Adobe Creative Suite 2-Day Workshop

Saturday Nov. 5 and Sunday Nov. 6
10 a.m. - 4 p.m., with a 30-minute break for lunch (provided)
University of Central Florida campus, Communication Building, Room 211B

This two-day intensive workshop will provide you with the basics of Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Cost is for both days. No prior knowledge or equipment needed.

PCs with software installed will be available for your use at the workshop. If you have a laptop with Adobe CS4 or CS5 installed on it, please feel free to bring it. However, we do not provide technical support for software or hardware problems on your own computer. If you bring your own laptop, a mouse is STRONGLY recommended. But you are always welcome to use one of the PCs provided.

Spring Adobe Workshop

It's Spring so you you know what that means--Ad Club is hosting another Adobe Creative Suite workshop. Creative guru, Jim Hobart, will be teaching you the foundations of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

This semester's workshop will be April 16 & 17. So get out your calendar, and clear whatever else you have going on those days.

Cost for UCF students is $100, and $150 for non-students/professionals. Deadline to sign up is April 8.

The application is under the "Club Forms" tab--in the upper right of the screen. You see it? Good--go click on it.

It's time for you to learn the tools that will help you get the job.

Comm Day 2011 is almost here.

Friday, April 8, 2011 is going to be epic.

Don't miss an opportunity to connect with industry professionals, alumni and faculty, and other students. There will be professional development break out sessions through out the day, and a luncheon with keynote speaker Sally Hogshead (www.sallyhogshead.com). Meet Your New Best Friends.

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign aren't the easiest programs to master.

But don't fret. The Adobe Desktop Publishing Workshops are back! Come learn the foundations of the Adobe Creative Suite, and learn some tips and tricks along the way.

Jim Hobart will be teaching the two-day workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 16 and 17 in NSC 208. Registration is 100 dollars for current UCF students and 150 dollars for alumni and professionals.

Ad Club hosts Push

The UCF Advertising club will be hosting its first case study meeting featuring Push on October 7th at 4:30 p.m. in the Nicholson School of Communication building in room 102.

Push will be presenting their work for Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill. The award-winning rebranding work has many different components including logo redesign, in-restaurant materials and website. John Ludwig, CEO at Push, will present the work to UCF students and will be available for a quick Q&A session. Don't miss the chance to hear insights on how Push developed their work and revitalized Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill.

Important Information/ Disney's Agency Tour Sign-ups

Thanks you to everybody who could make it out to the first meeting.

If you would like to join the club and could not make it to the meeting, applications are available on this site. They can be turned into Joan McCain in the Nicholson School of Communication building, room 250. If she is not there, you can bring it to the office and have them put it in her mailbox for safe keeping.

Also, as mentioned at the meeting, we will be going on our first agency tour for our next meeting. On September 23rd, at 3:30p.m. we will be meeting to leave for a tour of Disney's very own in house ad agency, Yellow Shoes. This is a first time for the club, and will be very interesting. In order to attend the tour, you will need to have paid dues beforehand.

In order to secure a spot on this trip you will need to RSVP by emailing us. Don't wait until the last minute or the trip may be full. If you will need a ride please tell us ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Also, if you would like to volunteer to drive that would also be very helpful.

Knight Advertising is a student run advertising agency associated with the UCF Ad Club. Knight Advertising provides students with hands-on experience of what working in an advertising agency could be like. We offer a wide variety of services from marketing strategies, creative design, advertising consultation, guerrilla/viral marketing, and more! In the past, we have worked with UCF students, professors, organizations, as well as local area businesses. When contracted with a client, Knight Advertising members work together to brainstorm and create that advertising edge our clients are looking for.

There are numerous benefits for the students involved. Knight Advertising helps them create a portfolio of projects to present to future employers as well as provide them with the feel of what it is like to work in an agency (on a much smaller scale of course). Students also have the opportunity to better their communication skills by interacting with clients and by working closely with all the members of Knight Advertising.

The UCF Ad Club is a registered student organization at the University of Central Florida, as well as a student chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The club works closely with the local AAF chapters, the Orlando Advertising Federation (OAF) and Ad2. While activities are designed for Ad/PR and Marketing students, all university students are welcome to join regardless of major.

The Ad Club holds weekly meetings every other Thursday during the academic year. These meetings are held on the main campus at 4:30 p.m. The room changes every semester, so stay tuned for an updated location. On occasion, meetings may be held at other times. If that is the case, the club officers will let members know beforehand.

Members are connected to an endless network of professionals with a tremendous amount of knowledge in the Advertising Industry. The Ad Club brings in speakers to share their wisdom and answer any questions about the ad world. Taking it a step further, the club also takes members on agency tours to allow students to see the day-to-day routine of an advertising agency from the inside.

The club is also constantly thinking of new and exciting ways to make a difference for students. This year, the club has put together a trip to visit bigger cities and tour Advertising and Public Relations agencies. The first trip of this kind was March 7-11, 2009 with students traveling to New York City to tour top agencies such as Ogilvy, McCann Erickson, J Walter Thompson, Digitas, and Mr. Youth. In addition to the trip, the club also came up with a workshop series that is held every semester. These workshops teach participants the basics of using the Adobe Creative Suite and how to create basic ad layouts. For more information about these events, visit their appropriate pages.

Membership Information

Interested in becoming a member of the UCF Ad Club? Here are some important information regarding membership:

You do NOT have to be an Advertising major to become a member. The club is designed for people interested in pursuing a career in advertising, but it's not a requirement.

Member dues are $45 per year for new members, and $35 for renewing members. They are due with your application. As a student chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), paid members of the Ad Club also become student members of AAF, OAF, and Ad2. You can pay with cash or check at any club meeting or to our club advisor, Joan McCain in NSC 250, and if she is not in her office you can bring it to the NSC office and tell them to put it in her mailbox. Please mark it for The Ad Club.

Applications and dues can be turned in at any time of the semester.
